Last week, our network members came together in Kampala, Uganda for the second Annual Conference & General Assembly of the Able Child Africa Network.
This coming together of African organisations forms a strong network of OPDs that makes our collective voice louder on the international stage as we stand united in demanding the inclusion of children with disabilities in all aspects of society.
We reviewed what had been achieved together in the past year and engaged in vital learning and building processes to ensure that we established meaningful practices that work for children with disabilities in Africa.
Last week, Able Child and the Able Child Africa Network:
- Reflected on progress and set the agenda for 2025 and beyond.
- Explored new opportunities for collaboration and shared learnings from project delivery and advocacy.
- Learned more about unrestricted fundraising and developed new pipeline strategies.
- Designed and planned consortium campaigns and projects for the future.
- Made key governance decisions, including potential new network membership.
This year, the assembly was hosted by fellow network member Uganda Society for Disabled Children (USDC) who we thank for their hospitality and support.
And a big thank you to all our network members who attended including ANDY, CST, FEDOMA, PODCAM, TAF, UWEZO, ZAPCD, USDC, ZPHCA.
This was another key moment to strengthen partnerships, share expertise, and shape the future of our work. Together, we can overcome challenges, enhance our advocacy efforts, and develop more effective strategies to support children and young people with disabilities across Africa to thrive.
