Why Run For Able Child?

Able Child works toward a world in which no child with a disability is left behind. We support a network of organisations in Africa to protect, educate and amplify the voices of children and young people with disabilities, so they are able to thrive.

We are thrilled to now be able to offer the Berlin Marathon – another of the six world marathon majors – into our challenge event calendar. We value each and every marathon runner who chooses to fundraise for Able Child. You’ll receive the following support and resources.

• Your own branded Able Child running vest.
• Regular communications from our fundraising team with ideas for events and information about our work.
• A dedicated contact who will provide you with unlimited support.
• The knowledge that you are supporting an organisation that for 40 years has been making lasting change for children with disabilities in Africa.

Why do you need to fundraise?

Able Child is allocated places by the Berlin Marathon through our partnership in the Official Event Programme with Realbuzz. We use the places to then fundraise for our work. We also accept international runners and therefore have set pledge levels that are challenging but very achievable in our experience.

Fundraising Pledge (UK): £3,000 (excluding Gift Aid)

Fundraising Pledge (US): $3,500

Create your own online fundraising page – it’s the easiest way to get sponsored! When you sign up, you’ll receive a welcome pack that has everything you need to know about fundraising, including lots of ideas, helpful tips and resources to use at any fundraising events you may hold.

We recommend you break your target into manageable chunks and create a plan to help you reach your goals. We’ll be here every step of the way to give you extra support and help ensure you meet your target.
